Seal of approval for Respond training

The ground-breaking Respond mental health crisis training initiative has received another boost, with a commendation from Michael Orde, the High Sheriff of Northumberland.

Mr Orde recently attended Respond training, which brings together the full range of professionals in mental health crisis care to learn together using a simulated scenario with audio and video clips.

Writing to the team afterwards, the High Sheriff said:

“I have attended many training sessions, and can confidently say that…Respond simulation training created more engagement in the subject and more challenges to my thinking than I have experienced in other formats, leading to a far better understanding of mental health and its impact on multi-agency reactions to situations.”

The Respond package was recently described as ‘highly successful in improving the understanding of, and collaboration between, different professions and agencies working together to care for people experiencing mental health crisis,’ in an independent evaluation by the Academic Health Sciences Network.
